NASEM Women in Science, Engineering, and Medicine: report presentations

Join us on Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. EST for a presentation by Dr. Eve Higginbotham, Vice Dean of Inclusion and Diversity at University of Pennsylvania, and Dr. Elena Fuentes-Afflick, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs at the University of California, San Francisco and Chief of Pediatrics at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, on two recent reports from the National Academies’ Committee on Women in Science, Engineering, and MedicineThe Impact of COVID-19 on the Careers of Women in Academic Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine and Promising Practices for Addressing the Underrepresentation of Women in Science, Engineering, and Medicine. This presentation will explore recent evidence-based data related to gender differences in advancement, leadership opportunities, and workforce retention as a result of the pandemic, as well as promising practices institutions can adopt to improve the recruitment, retention, and advancement of women scientists and physicians to mitigate the impact of the pandemic.
