The SBN is pleased to announce the next event of the Connect with Biotech and Life Sciences Professional Series. We are delighted to be joined by UBC alum and Principal Scientist at Zymeworks Inc, Dr. Eric Escobar.
Dr. Eric Escobar-Cabrera grew up in Mexico. He studied in Italy, Germany and Canada, where he received a BSc. in Chemistry. He then did his PhD in Chemistry at the University of British Columbia, where he specialized in using nuclear magnetic resonance to answer structural biology questions. He is currently a Principal Scientist at Zymeworks Inc, which he joined in 2010 as a protein engineer in support of a number of platform and therapeutic development programs. In his time at Zymeworks, he published scientific articles, is an inventor on various issued patents, as well as numerous patent applications. Most recently, Eric led Zymeworks’ protein engineering efforts in a collaboration with GlaxoSmithKline. Now, he leads the protein engineering group at the newly formed Exploratory Research Unit at Zymeworks.
