Coding, like reading or writing, is becoming an essential skill in today’s world. Programming is rapidly changing the way almost every industry works – marketing, media, entertainment, retail, you name it. We’re living in a world in which nearly everything is affected by technology. Regardless of profession, programming skills, such as Python and Java, have become integral in decision making and product development.

There is a strong gender imbalance in the STEM field. Women reportedly only occupy 26% of computing-related jobs. It’s time to change those stats. We are teaming up with Women Who Code for a panel discussion featuring outstanding women to discuss what a career in engineering has brought to them and how you can benefit from it too.

Join us online to listen to these women as they discuss how they got started in the industry, which coding languages to learn, and how they overcame common obstacles.

About the Instructor:

Anne Richardson is a Senior Software Engineer at Cover My Meds where she builds Ruby-on-Rails-backed web applications. Anne received a BA in English from Penn State University and went on to a career in writing, graphic design, and marketing consulting until she made the jump to code in 2015. She loves backend code and working to make code simple and easy to read. Outside of work, she co-hosts the Women Who Code Ruby Tuesday meetup. It’s hard to predict what she’ll do for fun next as she pursues a variety of projects, the most recent being voiceover training, Arduino programming, and solar cooking.
